FREE Advice & Guidance

Join my mailing list now and I’ll instantly start sharing with you tools, methods and tips to immediately start getting backlinks and more visitors. Everything I send you has been tested and I’ll be brutally honest with you about the pro’s and con’s of everything you receive.

Backlinks get you visitors

Google gives you two options to get your web pages high up in the list the search engine returns when a user enters the keyword or phrase describing what they are searching for; you can pay Google for ads on the right of the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) OR you can get backlinks to give your pages authority and relevance to make them appear high up in the list on the left.

Backlinks are the sledge hammer of search engine optimisation. If you have more backlinks than your competitors you will outrank them. Your web pages appearing in the top positions in the SERPS will bring you more visitor traffic and the backlinks to your web pages from other web pages will bring you more traffic and more authority and relevance in the eyes of Google.

I’ll help you get more backlinks

I will help you avoid:

spending your money, valuable time and energy searching for and trying methods to get more backlinks.

the frustration of trying methods to get more backlinks that simply don’t work

the mistakes made by the majority of web site owners and “experts” when they get backlinks to their websites.

Guaranteed

I won’t try or recommend anything for building backlinks that doesn’t come with a cast iron money back guarantee.

Join my list and you get

My experience, advice and help for free: I have spent nearly six years full time focusing on discovering, buying and testing tools and methods to get backlinks and visitor traffic. I will tell you what backlinks methods work well and which don’t and when you’re stuck you can e-mail me and I will do what I can to help you either by e-mailing you back or calling you direct on Skype.

Regular updates, clinics and teleseminars: I have studied mountains of content, attended tens of teleseminars and talked to dozens of experts about the best strategies and tactics for engineering backlinks and getting more traffic. As a result I have gathered an immense library of knowledge and I have direct access to some of the best minds in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) who regularly help me solve problems and shared with me new methods for creating backlinks in difficult niches. Based upon your questions and problems I will send you updates and invite you to online interactive sessions where I not only answer questions and share with you new methods but walk you step by step through how to implement the answers or use the new methods. In most cases these sessions will be free.

How much is this?

FREE to the first 200 people who sign up, after this I will be raising the price to $29.97 per month. Go ahead and sign up now in the box provided above.

I look forward to working with you

Sometimes called off page links, backlinks are the oxygen of search engine positioning and traffic generation. For any web page to be ‘ranked’ in the search engines and receive traffic it’s essential it has backlinks. Backlinks have three key properties, the source from which the backlinks originate, the anchor text of the backlinks and the content of the page to which the backlinks directs the visitor to. The number of Backlinks to a page is one of the factors the search engines consider when deciding how to position the page in the results displayed to the searcher.

The pages from which backlinks originate pass ‘authority’ and traffic to the page to which the backlinks point. Backlinks are like votes - the higher the number of votes (backlinks) the more relevant and popular the page is considered by the search engine. But ‘votes’ cast through backlinks from trusted or authoritative pages to a page have greater influence over the search engines consideration of this page than backlinks originating from pages with less ‘trust’ or authority. Good examples of trusted sources of backlinks carrying higher authority are pages belonging to education (.edu) and government (.gov) web sites. Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a value given by Google to any page that it considers over a period of time to have sustained and continued to accumulate backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.

Similar to a label, the backlink anchor text has influence over the search engines classification of the backlink. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for information related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’. Many people mess up their backlinks strategies because they focus on quantity as opposed to quality of backlinks. For example if all of your links to your ‘parenting’ page come from sites not related to ‘parenting’ then whilst you have backlinks they will almost certainly bring you the wrong traffic.

So here is my tried and tested advice for getting backlinks to your pages, high rankings in the search engine results pages and the right type of traffic to your site. Initially you should focus on choosing the correct keywords. I like to build a keyword ‘cloud’. I always start with a single ‘top’ level keyword or key phrase which has significant visitor traffic. To discover how much visitor traffic is being generated by searches for my top level keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool. I look at words and search phrases associated with my ‘top’ level phrase and create my ‘cloud’. I then generate content in the form of articles and videos containing backlinks with the correct ‘anchor text’ to my ‘money’ or ‘target’ page and distribute these to the various directories. When I write my content I do so with the reader in mind so as each piece of content attracts backlinks to itself as well as sends backlinks to my target pages.

Sign up now to learn this EASY method for turning a Wordpress blog into an Affiliate commission generator.

One of the great things about starting this blog has been the number of questions I have been getting which in turn are helping me to decide how best to help as many people as I can who are struggling to get traffic to their sites.

A lot of Wordpress blog owners who signed up for my help have been asking about fast ways to make money from the existing work they have done on their blogs. At the time of writing I own and operate about 78 blogs in different niches, so you can imagine how many different tools and strategies I have tested and I am personally using to make these blogs work for their living.

I just did a count and a review of what is working best for me and I have decided to share with my list the top three methods and tools for turning a Wordpress blog into a money making machine.

I hope you are aware that the fastest and safest way to make money on the web is Affiliate Marketing as there are thousands of product owners out there looking for people to promote and sell their products. In the simplest case all you need to do is add a link from your site to the product owner’s sales page. If the person seeing and clicking on the link buys the product you get paid a commission.

One of the fastest and simplest methods I have evaluated

So I thought I would begin by introducing the simplest and fastest method I have used to help you create literally thousands of Affiliate links from the content of your Wordpress Blog. This method takes about five minutes to install and probably about 35 minutes (I measured it just now) to get to a point where you have added hundreds of Affiliate links to your blog without messing up your content and look and feel of your blog.

How (well) it works

This tool instantly links as many keywords as you identify in your blog and links them to the relevant web sites found in places like Clickbank that have high conversion rates and good payouts.

Now a word of caution, you are not going to make millions out of this but my rules are really simple - try it out on a limited number of keywords that you know are bringing people to your site. You can find this information in your Google Analytics (If you don’t know how - get in touch in the comments section below). The strategy is simple ‘get a rope across the river’ and just make sure you understand how things are working, then refine a little and test. When you are confident you are getting results then do more.

My Results

Now I can say that the sites I am using this method on have fairly good traffic and across 7 sites with a reasonable amount of content I am earning an average of $1700 per month. Which isn’t bad considering I have spent about 4 hours work doing the whole set up on all seven sites.

  addthis_pub    = '';

The marketer obviously knew this.

Within days I was receiving e-mails offering me a ‘total solution’ to my problem. Worse still I was being offered solutions to problems I didn’t even know I had. I was perplexed but excited and I was almost convinced I should spend the money and all of the answers would be mine. But then my survival instincts too over, I was supposed to be making money not spending it!

And that’s when every thing changed for me.

I knew enough from the free content to know the questions to ask and I turned to Google for the answers. Now competition for attention of searchers is everywhere on the Internet and this means one thing for everyone who runs in this race.

They have to be better. Better in this case, means giving away more detail than the competition and stating the fact that you are well known. And this is where the celebrity factor comes into play. The more you give the more you will receive.

This is an undisputable fact. The more authoritative your content, the more highly valued you will become to your prospects and customers. Sure it hard to keep giving stuff away but believe me it works. Word soon gets around and the backlinks and the traffic follow.

In one of my niches I give away at least three hours work of detailed content a week, People opt in and subscribe to my list just to get at more free content.

I start a conversation with my list and on my blogs. I gently pose questions and ask for affirmation.

I then supply some of the answers as a pre-amble to selling a product. Just something that I know is rock solid and works. Sound familiar? I then ask my buyers for their comments and questions about the product they have just bought and the cycle of product creation begins again.

Three hours of work a week to build up a list and authority & then the money follows - supported of course with a few ninja backlinks,,,The cost and effort required to create and deliver valuable content sinks lower by an order of magnitude every year. People go online for answers and information and the best sources get reputation and backlinks.

In my early days I was unknowingly ‘pigeonholed’ as a rebel in my corporate world and I quickly learned “perception is the only reality” from numerous managers whose agendas were either to suppress or encourage my sometimes perceived as disruptive behaviours.

In turn the people ‘affected’ by my antics often communicated their perceptions to other individuals and groups before I had actually engaged with them. As you might imagine if my ‘publicity’ was negative then it hindered and often halted my progress. Unfortunately the majority of my publicity was negative. My ‘corporate backlinks’ carried a lot of negative link juice.

The power of perception

It was only after a couple of significant career set backs that I learned that perception management was an art I simply had to master as a priority if I wanted to get ahead. As you might imagine this was not so easy, as I had to reposition my self in the minds of a fairly diverse and large group. This ‘makeover’ met with a lot of resistance and it took a long time and a lot of patience and effort to change perceptions and get positive references. But change I did and so did my fortunes.

Impressions count – it’s not what you know it’s who you know.

We all know that getting ahead in any society or business environment is substantially enhanced by paying attention to networking and making the right impression. The web is no different. Who you know and what they think of you is critical to establishing a solid, durable and lasting presence and reputation on the web.

Reputation = Backlinks

As a web site owner you have two key tasks establish backlinks from credible, related and authoritative sources and create valuable content that people will naturally link to and organically socialize on your behalf. You have to focus on building a reputation for your site and get others to spread the word. This sums up what Google wants. The more you can do this and satisfy Google the easier your SEO efforts should become. Get this right and the backlinks and the traffic will follow.

Whichever way you look at this the hard facts are it’s a lot of hard work. There are however quite a lot of things can you can do to make the work easier and get to where you want to be quicker. I will be sharing the details with you over the coming weeks on this blog.

Game changing events

A couple of events changed everything for me and there is no reason why following my advice shouldn’t do the same for you.

Being a Celebrity will get you backlinks

Now a celebrity is an individual who is famously recognized in a society or niche and their ‘level’ of celebrity status varies depending upon their field, location and marketability within their niche. For example an individual might be a celebrity to some people and to others he or she may be completely unknown. On the web you will find plenty of evidence of communities with backlinks or references to individuals or groups with ‘celebrity status.

The audience is listening

In every niche regardless of how obscure there are celebrity opportunities. The most obvious type of celebrity being the expert or trusted authority (sound familiar?) whose voice and opinions carry weight and influence. Experts enjoy more than passing curiosity they have the persistent or ‘sticky’ attention of the audience and on the net this translates into backlinks and subscribers to the experts feed (more on feeds when I discuss RSS in an up and coming post).

Whichever niche you choose you should focus on being an authority. To do this you must understand your market and over deliver on what it wants. Over delivery is a strategic mind set and is proven to work over and over again in all markets. Over delivery is always recognised and will inevitably spread the word. I will come to how and when use ‘events’ to capitalise or gain more ground from the spread of your reputation in a moment. But first I need you to think about the behaviours of what I call mainstream celebrities.

How celebrity behaviours create backlinks that Google loves

A mainstream celebrity is someone who is known by most people. These people are household names. For example, Virgin’s Richard Branson was just another CEO in a niche until he became a global celebrity after he tried to fly around the world in a hot air balloon to get the press and subsequently the world’s attention. Branson became an ‘A-List’ celebrity overnight.

It was a simply a well publicised and significant event that captured peoples attention and imagination. Branson actively and vigorously sought media attention and as a result became a trusted brand in his own right. As a result Virgin has become a trusted brand preferred by the masses in different markets.

In Part 4, I will share with you how it is possible for you to do the same

In part 1 I discussed methods for acquiring backlinks that will almost certainly result in portraying your site in a negative light in the eyes of Google. I wanted to get this out of the way first and stop you in your tracks if you had or where already thinking about going down any of these treacherous roads.

In the next three posts I am going to focus on how to make others to notice you and in turn get Google to do the same. I will discuss the importance of your market positioning, why thinking like an A-List celebrity is important and the power of being “remarkable”.

Get these factors right and authority and backlinks will follow.

Solid market positioning will get you backlinks

Market positioning is defined as the position you, your product or service occupies in your prospect’s mind relative to their perception of your competition. Think of your target’s mind as a ladder – basically you want to be on the top rung and everyone else to be below you. The distance between the number one and number two player in many markets is often a significant order of magnitude. Existing on the top rung gives you immense power and longevity.

A great example of this is Google, even though other search engines had been around for some time and appeared to be in defensible positions, Google used positioning to reposition their competitors in the minds of searchers. Google redefined the whole search experience and now controls a massive 80% of the search activity on the Internet. Google decided from the outset the position they wanted to be in and went for it – the results are history.

Your backlinks strategy is a critical foundation stone of your positioning. Every link you acquire and every visitor it brings should be aimed at positioning yourself in your prospects mind to ultimately bring you a steady growth of more natural backlinks.

I am not saying that to begin with you can achieve natural links, you do need visibility to get visibility if you see what I mean ;-). If you sign up for my service I will share with you tools methods and tips you can use to get the initial visibility you need and get the momentum of getting natural backlinks going.

Positioning is arguably the most critical part of any marketing strategy. Without clear positioning you are confining yourself to the category of “also ran”, which will probably turn out to be fatal.

So I strongly urge you to read the book “Positioning” for two key reasons:

if you don’t understand the impact of positioning and what you should be doing about it.

if you are choosing or worried about a name for your business, product or website.

It’s roughly a six hour read and will probably change the way you think about your marketing. Just go do it…

Cheers

Nick

Coming soon: In part three I discuss why you should think like a celebrity and why it’s key to getting more backlinks

One of my students contacted me today to ask why his site still was not getting ranked in Google. He had followed my advice a number of times in the past and achieved excellent rankings very quickly.

After considerable analysis of the the niche and keywords he was focused and and in depth review of his back links I was puzzled as to why his backlinks strategy was not working.

I am a great believer in the art of dividing and conquering to solve a problem, in my early career I was a mainframe support engineer and I spent many a night in cold data centres debugging sick mainframes that supported thousands of users and therefore the speed at which I could resolve a problem was critical. One of the techniques I was fortunate to have been taught was from a consulting firm called Kepner Tregoe. The skills I developed resulted in me adopting a very disclipined and detailed approach to problem solving.

The flexibility of the fundamental technologies and concepts that underpin the web enable you to build prototypes very quickly and I was quickly able to build an identical ‘control’ set up around a keyword with similar search volume and competition characteristics to my student’s.

True to form the ‘control’ set up worked well and ranked in a matter of days. The obvious conclusion being that my methods for building back links have not been affected by any subtle changes in Google (you should know this happens frequently…more in another set of articles).

The only thing left to do was to check each link to the student’s site. Two and half hours of studying the syntax of each backlink revealed the answer to the problem. A slash at the end of the URL!!!

Here is what I mean:

www.websitename.com is a different site to www.websitename.com/ is a totally different site as far as Google is concerned….

I discovered that a significant percentage of my students backlinks were pointing to one URL containing the slash problem and the remaining backlinks were pointing to a page without the slash.

The lesson is obvious. If you are engineering backlinks using some of the legitamite methods I share with you in my teachings. Stick to ONE format of URL when you format the link.

Thats all
